For all you San Diego people that haven’t been to The Mushroom Caves yet, its time to go. The summer is almost here and its perfect weather to go out for a little hike. The Mushroom Caves are located in San Elijo Lagoon Ecological Reserve in Solana Beach. I came here the other day with my friends for the first time. The caves are really cool and they are easy to find (cross the train-tracks and walk into the trail). The caves are not big, but they are quite interesting- aliens, crosses, mushrooms, dragons, all these are carved into the walls of the cave. If you keep on hiking up the mountain until the very top, you will find a red tree (really) and a beautiful view of San Diego. It’s a great hike. I totally recommend this adventure as a quick and fun day trip. Enjoy!
